Have I really not updated since the end of May?
Just as a note to future Justin:
Never watch "The Last Kiss" again. Just don't do it. I know you're looking through the DVDs and you're all like, "Hey, I should watch something I haven't seen in a while." And then you see "The Last Kiss" and you think "Rachel Bilson, Zach Braff, Rachel Bilson, Casey Affleck, and Rachel Bilson! Why has it been so long since I've watched this."
But then you watch it, and then you remember that it's more depressing than a solid week of the local news.
I'm actually in the process of writing a couple different posts [and listening to the Islands] right now. I've got something to go up at Every Facet of the Game tomorrow morning. It looks like EFotG is going on a long term and quite possibly permanent hiatus in the not too distant future. I've got some other things I'll be working on at some different places. Writing there is a blast. It's mine, I created it and I run it. I write when I want, about what I want. And while it's completely shocking to me, over the past 15 months I've got a little bit of a following.
Having people tell me they've been reading for
x period of time is purely ridiculous. Sending an email to someone who makes their career writing about sports and having them email me back saying they had been looking for an email address to get a hold of me is nothing short of absurd. Things have worked out well, but now it's time to look into some opportunities at my door step.
Ok, I was listening to the Islands, now I'm listening to Scarlett Johansson singing Tom Waits. Yes, after repeatedly hearing John playing it, on his laptop and in his car, I've finally cracked. The thing is, it's not Scarlett Johansson. Her vocals rank somewhere between "meh" and average. Certainly not bad, but she's no Neko Case. So I guess a great deal of the credits has to be deflected towards Tom Waits for writing some solid songs. Either way, I wouldn't say I'm hooked, but I'm nipping now.
If my bike tire is still pumped up tomorrow morning, I'm going to ride to work. I'll be working some more hours from now until I start back at school. Which actually means I should probably go to sleep now and stop wasting time writing on xanga. Sleep, now. Later I'll rambling on my unlikely day off and Old Navy run. This is what happens when I don' update frequently, stuff log jams and I forgetting stuff or emitting things to keep my post from being a novel.
